Albert Bär

Dr. Baer

  Mr. Bär received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in 1974. After post-doctoral studies at the University of Zurich, he led, from 1978 - 1980, a biochemical research group at F. Hoffman-La Roche & Co. AG in Basel, Switzerland. This group conducted toxicological, metabolic and clinical studies on certain food ingredients.

Prior to forming Bioresco Ltd. in 1986, Mr. Bär served for six years as Director, Research and Development, at Xyrofin Ltd., at that time a joint venture between F. Hoffmann-La Roche & Co. AG and the Finnish Sugar Co. Ltd.

Mr. Bär is the author of numerous scientific publications and is a member of several professional associations, including the Toxicology Forum, the International Society for Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology, the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society, the European Food Law Association, and various food and nutrition related groups (ASPEN, DGE, IFT, SGE).




Marquard Imfeld

Ph.D., MBA Marquard Imfeld

  Mr. Imfeld received his Ph. D. in bio-organic chemistry from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in 1979, and his executive MBA in business administration 1989 from the University St. Gallen.

He began his professional career as an organic research chemist at the Central Research Department of F. Hoffmann-La Roche & Co. AG in Basel, Switzerland. He was promoted to Head of a Research Group in 1984 and later on to Assistant Director and Member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Imfeld joint Roche's Vitamin and Fine Chemicals Division in 1988 and underwent a training in food ingredient marketing at Roche's affiliate in Belgium and in regulatory affairs at the headquarter in Basel. From 1991-1998 he served as Head of Global Regulatory Affairs at Roche's Vitamin and Fine Chemicals Division.

In 1998, Novartis Consumer Health invited Mr. Imfeld to join its Nutrition Division as Head of Global Regulatory Affairs. In this position he was responsible for all regulatory matters concerning health foods, functional foods, dietetic foods including infant foods, sport foods, slimming foods, diabetic foods, medical foods, and dietary supplements.

Mr. Imfeld joint Bioresco's office in Basel in mid 2003.

Mr. Imfeld is/was a member of many scientific and regulatory advisory groups, such as the Swiss Commission on Nutrition, Swiss Committee of Codex Alimentarius, Toxicology Forum (US, EU) and International Life Science Institute (US, EU). He also participated in different working groups of trade associations such as IDACE (dietetic foods / EU), ERNA (dietary supplements / EU) and Council of Responsible Nutrition (dietary supplements / UK).

He authored different publications and gave presentations on different aspects of food regulations around the world.
